19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since March of 2023.

Success also means he has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to win a trophy is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an better serve.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour victory, gained dominance to push for a final set.

Moutet defended 4 early-game chances in a competitive final set before the Russian won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he secured the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
